Privacy Policy for Dayli
Last Updated: August 6, 2025
TL;DR – What We Do (and Don’t) Collect
We know privacy policies can be long, so here’s the short version:
We collect: basic device info (like iOS version or language), and anonymous analytics (via Firebase) to improve app performance and understand how features are used.
We don’t collect: your name, location, contacts, or personal identifiers. No ads, no social media tracking, no creepy stuff.
Your photos are stored entirely on your device (or in iCloud if you enable it). We do not collect, access, or upload your photos. They remain private and under your control.
Subscription purchases are handled securely through Apple and RevenueCat.
We do use Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, and RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. Both collect some anonymous technical data but don’t identify you personally.
The full breakdown is below, if you want to dive in.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
Photos & Labels: You can create photo timelines and give them names. These names are stored locally using Apple’s Core Data and are never shared.
User Preferences: Stored on-device via UserDefaults (e.g., theme, view mode, album covers, tooltip visibility).
B. Device Permissions
We request the following permissions for core app functionality:
Camera: Used to take photos directly within the app.
Photo Library: Used to save your photos or import existing ones from your library.
Microphone: Allows the volume buttons to function as a shutter trigger while using the camera.
Notifications: Sends you reminders to take your daily photo.
All permissions are requested contextually and can be changed at any time in your device settings.
2. How We Store and Sync Data
On Your Device: Photos and personal data are stored locally in the app's secure storage.
iCloud (Optional): If enabled, photos and data can sync between your Apple devices using Apple’s secure infrastructure.
We do not store your data on our own servers.
3. Analytics and Crash Reporting
Dayli uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve the app.
Firebase Analytics collects:
App usage data (e.g., what screens are opened, which features are used)
Device info (model, OS version, screen size)
General region (country-level only)
Language and timezone
App version, install date, and update history
Anonymous identifiers (like installation ID)
We use this data to improve features, fix bugs, and understand how people use Dayli — not to track you personally. We do not link analytics data to your identity.
Firebase Crashlytics collects:
Crash reports
Stack traces and error logs
Device and app state during a crash
This helps us quickly fix issues and improve app stability.
4. Purchases and Subscriptions
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat collects:
Anonymous user identifiers
Purchase history and receipts
Subscription status (active/inactive)
Country/region and platform
App version and device type
All payments are processed through Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment information.
5. Third-Party Services
Dayli uses a few third-party services that help run the app and support subscriptions:
Firebase Analytics: Provides anonymous insights into how users interact with the app.
Firebase Crashlytics: Helps us detect crashes and improve stability.
RevenueCat: Manages subscription status and purchase validation. It collects purchase history, platform data, and region, but not personal identity.
Kingfisher: Handles image caching locally. It does not collect any personal data.
We do not use:
Advertising SDKs
Social media SDKs (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google Sign-In)
Location tracking
Contact or health data
6. Security and Data Handling
All app data is stored securely on your device or within Apple’s iCloud (if enabled).
Data sent to Firebase and RevenueCat is encrypted in transit.
We follow Apple’s security best practices and do not collect unnecessary data.
7. Children’s Privacy
Dayli is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Choices
You can manage permissions (camera, photos, microphone, notifications) in iOS settings.
You can choose whether to enable iCloud syncing.
You can delete the app to remove all local data at any time.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Major changes will be communicated through the app or our website.
